How MySpace Can Survive Apple's Ping

September 2, 2010 |12:26 | Gossips | News  By : Team X

Apple's announcement of Ping exploded the blogosphere with talk of the service being the final nail in the coffin for the former king of social media, MySpace. While this may be true, there is a way for MySpace to be relevant AND to get back into the players club of social media. Here's how:

Content — Social media is all about content. Without good content, users won't use the service. It's really that simple. For MySpace to make a comeback and be relevant, they should look to partner with serious recording studios and major artists. You're going to say, well, they already do that. Of course they do, but what's missing is the benefit for the end-user. How about record contracts? Free music? Exclusive deals to concerts?

Leap Frog their UI — MySpace has tried to improve their user interface, but it just doesn't cut it. People flocked to Facebook because of the simplicity of the service. And, since the network swelled to 500 million, it would be hard to get people to move back to MySpace. Users networks are there. They don't want to mess with that. So, if they changed their UI to do something that no other network does, they might have a chance.

MySpace Hands Over Updates To Facebook

September 1, 2010 |12:33 | Gossips | News | Updates  By : Team X

MySpace Hands Over Updates To Facebook: MySpace has surrendered to the power of Facebook, and users can now send their shared content on MySpace out to Facebook (and Twitter) with just one click. The functionality allows you to push photos, status updates, links and videos out to a Facebook profile or Page, and also Twitter. The move is not surprising considering MySpace's dwindling popularity, and Facebook's increasing dominance over the social aspects of the Web with its growing user base of over 500 million.

Despite MySpace's declining popularity, however, one advantage it had were the specially designed MySpace pages for musicians and celebrities. But with the increasing popularity of Facebook Pages, MySpace may have been feeling the pressure to finally tap into Facebook. With Facebook-MySpace integration, musicians, celebrities and regular users can still maintain their identities on MySpace, but reap the added advantage of sending content to Facebook as well.

MySpace gets a huge update with really slick profile pages(The social media maven that time seems to have forgotten has perhaps just thrown down the gauntlet in the world of social profiles.

To be honest, this is the one place where MySpace always really excelled, and something that Facebook is sorely missing.

Our image at the right is of the personal page for MySpace exec Sean Percival.  He hit Twitter with what we can only call an unofficial  announcement just a couple hours ago.

MySpace, LinkedIn and now Facebook added to Microsoft Outlook

July 14, 2010 |16:30 | Gossips  By : Team X

MySpace, LinkedIn and now Facebook, Microsoft  continues adding social network sites to Outlook, to enable the users of its email client to view updates from their friends on the social networking sites without log on to the site and to do it all in real-time. Microsoft has introduced an add-on “People Pane” to the Outlook from where users can access the profile and updates of their Facebook friends.

"You can view your social network as you look through your email to stay connected with your friends, family, and colleagues," said Paco Contreras Herrera, Group Product Manager, Microsoft Office. In February, Microsoft released a plug-in named ‘Outlook Social Connector’ that allowed the users of Outlook to directly access their LinkedIn contacts. Later in March, the company integrated MySpace to the email client.

MySpace vs. Facebook

July 8, 2010 |13:20 | Gossips  By : Team X

Clovis’ James Walker and Rio Rancho’s Torie Iverson participated in the New Mexico Press Association’s annual high school journalism workshop last month. They wrote this story for The Future Press newspaper: Many technological advances in American culture have helped teens in many ways. Popularity of different online social networks has driven people to use each service in different ways. Each social networking site on the world-wide web has different features that both teens and adults prefer.

James: I prefer Facebook because of the cool features and notifications. Torie: I prefer MySpace because I find it easier to operate and there are not so many fan clubs and other apps that are unimportant. I also do not like how Facebook notifies you on other people’s actions. I do not need to know that someone commented on a friend’s status or commented on their pictures.

Myspace Comments From Hammad Memon's Account Include Suggestive And Foul Language

July 6, 2010 |13:47 | Gossips  By : Team X

Many of the posts use strong curse words and are sexually suggestive. Comments posted on MySpace from Memon's account show feelings and activities indicative of an adolescent in today's world, says one counselor. Memon's Myspace page is no longer available. The comments appear on the page of a man claiming to be 19-years-old and from Madison.

Memon's account made 14 posts from July to October of last year. A post from August 1, after Memon had just turned 14, reads, "I'll try not to --- up, but trouble seems to follow me. National Children's Advocacy Center Director Chris Newlin examined the posts. He says, "A lot of the stuff on there is relatively normal, adolescent discussion and activity that probably is not too dissimilar from people who have ever been a teenager.

A couple months later, in October of 2009, another post from Memon's Myspace account appeared. This time - there was an accusation about Memon's father. Again - Newlin says this statement is not out of the ordinary for adolescents.

Myspace and dating

July 1, 2010 |13:52 | Gossips  By : Team X

A twenty year old man met a fifteen year old girl from MySpace and has sex with her. The man is arrested in Clearwater, FL. Amazingly; the two began dating on April 21st of this year. On April 24, Brandon O. Henderson had sex with the fifteen year old girl. After they had sex, the man learns the age of the girl. The question is why didn't Brandon ask the girl her age before he had sex with her. Did he or did he not care? He had sex seven times with the fifteen year old girl. If he cared, he waited another six times to care.

Brandon O. Henderson is charged with molesting a fifteen year old girl who he met on MySpace. Some people may blame the girl for getting herself in the situation with twenty year old Brandon. Brandon is at fault because he is considered an adult who was having sex with a child. Brandon Henderson will likely be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.

The MySpace Executive Exodus Is Coming (NWS)

June 19, 2010 |15:32 | Gossips  By : Team X

When Owen Van Natta came in as MySpace CEO in the summer of 2009, he gave valuable employees a two-part retention bonus. The first part paid out immediately. Sources tell us the second pays out in July. After it pays out, everyone expects there's going to be an exodus. Conservatives estimates put the figure at 10% to 20% of MySpace headcount.

"Real talent is shored up though," says one source, who also points out that at cost-heavy MySpace, "attrition is not necessarily a bad thing." Yesterday, MySpace co-president Jason Hirschhorn announced he was leaving the company. He sent employees this memo:

MySpace Trawl - Lucy And The Caterpillar

June 12, 2010 |15:34 | Gossips  By : Team X

A name like Lucy And The Caterpillar, for instance, conjures up images of a series of children’s book about a lovable fuzzy garden creature and its owner, Lucy. Despite our best wishes for this to be true, we know that our slightly moronic side is coming out.

However, what we have discovered is a lovely tinkering of happy acoustic pop songs with lyrics that may not contain any direct logical message, but have fun and warmth behind them. Only two songs are up for our enjoyment, but they are some of the loveliest tunes we’ve heard. The musicianship is second to none and sounds like something recorded in a big posh studio with thousands of buttons on an overpriced mixing desk.

Myspace Trawl Cheapskate

June 5, 2010 |15:55 | Gossips  By : Team X

Tootling along with some shed-pop is the wonderful and laconic Cheapskate – a one-man Bluenote back catalogue, complete with teasmaid, wry looks and cheeky hooks. Treading the line between Jim Noir and a soundtrack to an imagined ’60s exploito beat movie, in Mr Cheapskate we’ve got a real packed lunch Brian Wilson.

Coming complete with a clutch of vintage instruments and sardonic wit more akin to Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, Cheapskate makes the kind of infectious ditty that will have you grinning like a simpleton. It’s the kind of music that’ll make you dance around on your rug whilst idly dreaming about razzing an E-Type through Southern France whilst smoking Gitanes.
