Two 12-year-olds were taken into custody this week for planning a shooting at the Robert J. Elkington Middle School in Grand Rapids, according to the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office.
The plans for the shooting were on one of the juveniles’ MySpace pages, which were reported by a parent to the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday evening.
There were no immediate threats to the school or its staff, Itasca County Sheriff Pat Medure said.
“I think we prevented something from happening, even though school wasn’t in session,” Medure told Fox 21 News. “That’s just something to show the individuals involved that we’re not going to tolerate this type of behavior.”
