Police are investigating the brutal attack after onlookers filmed the assault and posted the footage on MySpace and distributed it around mobile phones at Elanora State High School, where one of the girls is a student.

The video shows two girls arguing near a bus stop in Ironbark St before one punches the other across the face and wrestles her to the ground, throwing repeated punches and kicks, the Gold Coast Bulletin reports. The attacker, believed to be a former Elanora State High School student, then releases the girl before returning to deliver a kick to the girl's as she lies on the ground.

A police spokeswoman told the Gold Coast Bulletin the incident on April 21 was being investigated by police who were conducting interviews with witnesses.  MySpace pages have been flooded with comments about the attack, including someone who claims to be the attacker saying: "i bashed (name deleted) today :)".  Other comments include people congratulating and praising the attacker for her 'nice work'.
